A Fine Play
No, this was not another rendition of Anne of Green Gables, but a display of pure athletic talent by our Rivercats #2 squad.  And it wasn't just one play.

The #2 Rookies had lost 9 games in a row this year.  They didn't get down and worked very hard at practices and at games and continued to have a lot of fun. Then they won a squeaker a couple of weeks ago, then lost big, then won pretty handily last week.

So, going into Strathroy last night I had to wonder what the heck these little hooligans had in store for us.  The team we were facing has lost two games all year and won their last 4 games by more than 15 runs each. Oooh.

Well, let me tell you something.....I still can stop thinking about how fantastic these little all stars played:
- Tessa - ran down a ball in the outfield and continued her terrific swinging at the plate
- Abbey - made a terrific throw from the outfield all the way to second base just like she has been taught
- Lily - got another fantastic hit and played great behind the plate
- Josh - continued his torrid hitting and got another double to drive in a run
- Jack - made great throws in the field and got another great hit
- Andrew - made two terrific outs at third base and another solid hit
- Grant - continued his steady hitting with another solid single
- Evelyn - Got another great hit tonight and made some solid throws from right field
- Blake - scooped up a couple of grounders and made an out at third
- Jordan - got 2 great hits and ran down a player at the plate to stop a run from scoring
- Cam J - got a couple of fantastic hits, scooped up a hot grounder, and made 3 more outs at first base. WOW
- Ethan - our Hustle and Heart award winner, got a single, a double, he slid, he covered his team mates, caught a hot grounder, and he snagged a hot line drive at short (and almost doubled up a very eager baserunner).  Quite a game.  CONGRATS ETHAN.

The whole team played such a terrific game that they were able to come away with a 5-3 win.  It was unbelievable really.  But a true testament to what hard work and having fun can do for you.  NICE JOB RIVERCATS #2!!!!
