A Couple of Tough Ones
Submitted By Jamie Bond on Friday, July 5, 2013
The last two games for the Rivercats #2 squad were held in Forest on Wednesday, June 26th and in Komoka on Tuesday July 2nd.  And they sure were toughies.

We strolled into Forest on a hot sticky day and the sun shone right into our dugout.  This seemed to zap alot of energy out of the crew, but they fought hard and still managed to come up with some great plays against probably the best team in the league.  Though we were defeated, it's still apparent that these hooligans are willing and able to make some of the prettiest plays in baseball.  Blake proved he is going to be a great outfielder with some great hustle and throws to the cutoff person on the infield.  Josh played a great game behind the plate even getting a player out with a great throw from the infield.  Really, we just got a couple of bad breaks and the game was really closer than the score shows.

The Hustle & Heart award went to Grant Walden for his great play at pitcher.  He hustled to gather up many grounders and made numerous great throws to first.  CONGRATS Grant......you were due.

On Tuesday of this week, Strathroy 3 rolled into Komoka.......another powerhouse.  I think it's safe to say that baseball can be a funny game and some games you have it and some games, you just don't.  I think this was a game where things just did not go our way.  But what can you do.  It wasn't for a lack of effort, but the Strathroy squad just kept find the holes on us, and when we tried to make a play, we just couldn't quite get the outs.  But, we had a very strong game from Raileh Mcechern, who was our Hustle & Heart award winner. Raileh played a great game in the outfield and mustered up two great hits.  CONGRATS Raileh.!!!!!
