Leapin' Lily
Another nice night on Tuesday was in store for the Rivercats #2 squad as they welcomed the mighty Forest #1 team to town.  The coach was a little nervous as this team has been moppin up the competition but he had faith his youngsters would be up to the task.

And they certainly were.  After 3 whole innings, the Rivercats were up 1-0.  That's right folks, this small but mighty little team kept the humongous Forest team off the board for 3 whole innings.  Cam J made a couple nice plays at first, Jodan made a couple nice plays, and Grant made a nice play from the outfield throwing out a runner at first base.  But on top of that, we made at lease 4 more plays by Jack, Ethan, and Blake that almost resulted in outs.  It was a thing of beauty.  Our run was scored by Jordan in the second who was pushed around the based on hits by Grant, Ethan, and the eventual RBI by Andrew.  Also picking up hits in the first 3 innings were Cam J and the Blakester.

In the 4th inning however, their experience took over.  Raileh and Jack were able to get hits but their awesome infield shut us down for 3 straight outs.  In the bottom half, they seemed to have a knack for just dropping hits wherever we weren't.  Nothing too solid, just finding the holes.  They ended up scoring 4 quick runs to take a 4-1 lead.

In the 5th inning, the Cats got one back on a run scored by Ethan, and hits by Lily, Andrew, and Cam J, but that's all we could muster.  In the top of the inning though, Forest had already put accross 3 more runs catapulting the score to 7-2.  All in all though, a fantastic game by everyone.

And speaking of fantastic games, our Hustle and Heart award goes to Leapin Lily.  She got a very solid single in the 5th inning to help generate a run, and she played a stellar game behind the plate.  And to boot, she just won't stop smiling......which means I can't stop smiling and it's contageous as the rest of the team can't stop smiling either.  FANTASTIC JOB LILY!!!
