Ministers of Defence

I looked at the score book for our first game of the year and counted up the strike outs for the other team.  They had 14.....which means we only made one out during the whole entire game.

Well, if you need proof that the mighty Rivercats #2 squad are fighters and are working hard, you just need to look at the results of last nights game.  Yes, we lost 7-5 to a team is winning night after night.  However, we made 11 outs ourselves.  11.  That is amazing.  Ethan made two outs himself when he snagged 2 ground balls at short and ran down the base runners.  Jordan scooped up two grounders and ran them to first......as did Cam Jones.  Andrew threw out two runners at first and Josh and Grant each threw out one.  We also made an out at second and another one at 3rd.  And just to give credit where credit is due....Strathroy was flashing the leather around last night as well as they caught 2 fly balls and got a double play when our runner at third took off for home.

This great defence is making for some exciting games.  Especially when our bats click.  Last night, we managed 5 runs, but we left the bases loaded every single inning.  And just to prove to you that people are noticing, I know the coach of the other team from my playing days.  His comment to me after the game was how great all of our player's swings are.  Even the little ones he said.  I simply told him that it's a direct reflection on the kids and how hard they work and how well they listen.  Nice job Sluggers!!!!!!

People are always telling me how much fun this group has night in and night out.  But guess what, people are also noticing how well they can play ball.  Keep er up hooligans.

As for the Hustle and Heart Award, it went to none other than Blaker. He went 3 for 3 at the plate and was hustling and tracking them down in the field.  CONGRATS BLAKE!!!!!
