Looking Like Baseball Players
After our 4th game on Tuesday night against Strathroy #2, I thought to myself how our mighty Rivercats #2 club are really starting to mold into terrific little baseball players.

The game was a great one with our Rivercats scoring 4 in the 5th to come within 2 runs of the tie.  But the real story is how all of our kids are making great swings, great catches, running hard, and being great teammates.  This is a player by player breakdown of what I saw tonight:
- Raileh - Played a solid game behind the plate and led us off with 2 great hits tonight.  He also scored our
first run of the night and is really having fun and showing some confidence this year.
- Jordan - Played pitcher tonight and was all over the diamond making plays, even outrunning a player to home
to stop them from scoring.  Besides his fielding prowess, he is really smoking the ball at the plate
and came up with 3 big hits tonight.
- Grant - Came up with 2 big hits tonight and is really showing some great positional improvement all over the
diamond.  Every single game he is getting more and more confident out there and pretty
soon we are going to see him put it all together and really make some great fantastic plays.
- Cam D - One of our big solid first year rookies, Cam is really making some great cuts up there.  He's got a
beautiful swing and once he starts getting that ball in play, his great wheels will start to carry him
around those bases in flames. I can't wait.
- Ethan - One of our leaders, he is really helping our younger players by playing hard, shouting out constant
encouragement, and really showing us what playing baseball is all about.  He got a double tonight
and made some great snags at short stop.  I think it's obvious he enjoys himself out there.
- Lily -    Our little smiling dynamo is really coming around out there.  She got a great hit tonight and made a
stupendous play in the field.  She really enjoys coming out to ball and that is half the battle. Her
future is so bright.......she has to wear shades......and she does.....great big ones.
- Andrew - The fundamentals are starting to come easy for this powerhouse.  His swing is full of pop and
when he connects.....look out..air planes will start falling from the sky.  Tonight, he made
a couple great plays in the field that kept the other team from advancing extra bases.
- Abbey - My giggling jitterbug is really showing us that you can learn the game of baseball and have fun
doing it.  She is another first year rookie who is really swinging a great bat and tonight, she
missed getting a single by the length of ladybug.
- Cam J - He's always had the skill for baseball, but now he is turning it into a weapon.  His powerful hits
and great plays in the field are leaving them gasping in the stands.  And tonight, he was the first
one to congratulate our Hustle and Heart Award winner.  That's a great teammate.
- Tessa - Always grinning and laughing, Tessa is a heart beat away from breaking through.  She's swinging
a quick bat and is really working hard out there which paid off tonight with a solid single.  Her great
attitude makes her a real pleasure to coach and she is improving with every outing.
- Blake - Our big lanky infielder got two more hits tonight with that hard, quick swing of his.  He's one of my
veterans and he is always working hard at practice and at games and showing the rest of the
kids what it takes to be a real ball player.  And oh yeah, it looks like he's having fun too.
- Evelyn - What can I say about this first year spark plug.  She is really making the game of baseball look
easy to learn and she puts the ball in play every at bat.....2 more times tonight.  I am already
playing her at most positions and I have no doubt she is going to be a dandy ball player one day.
- Josh - Some real natural skill is coming to the surface for our dynamic play maker.  His swing is very
consistent now and he is making the infield an easy place to play....especially with that great
catch he made tonight.  Once we harness all that wild energy he has, he is sure to break out
            into something big.
- Jack - Smiling Jack is a real pleasure to coach out there.  He's quick to make adjustments and is a
hop, skip, and jump from showing us something great.  He's got some skills and seems to be a
natural fielder, whether it be infield, outfield, or behind the plate.

All in all, what I am seeing out there, is a bunch of hooligans that are eager to learn and easy to teach.  Every
one of them listens very well and hustles out there each and every play.  And that's all I can ask.  With our allstars, they make the quick adjustments and their swings and throws and catches are
beautiful to watch.  I can't wait until our next game to see what happens......it's so exciting.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, our Hustle and Heart award tonight goes to Ethan.  He was a fantastic teammate
tonight with his awesome cheers, hustled hard, and made some great plays out there.  CONGRATS ETHAN!!!!
