One Big Crazy Inning
Well rain, you couldn't keep us off the field tonight.  And it's a good thing because we had some great plays to make.

In the top of the first inning, the Rambunctious Rivercats (and I do mean rambunctious) were able to keep DKMB #4 to one run.  Cam J helped matters by making 2 outs at first with that quick glove of his and some great glove work by Ethan at short kept the ball from getting through the infield for extra bases.

In the bottom of the first, the bats......they exploded.  Grant lead off the inning with a solid single.  Cameron D fought hard at the plate with many foul balls but just couldn't get that hit.  Then we continued with solid hits by Ethan, Lily, Andrew, Cameron J, Tessa, Blake, and Evelyn.  Thrown in there was a terrific at bat by Abbey where she almost got to first.  When it was all said and done, the rambunctious ones scratched 5 runs accross.

That was all she wrote though for the Rivercats as DKMB #4 put up 7 runs in the third and were able to come out on top 8 - 5.

Despite the score though, there was lots to be happy about in this game.  We had 2 hit performances by Ethan, Cam J, Lily, and Blake.  We had some other great hits by Josh, Raileh and Jordan.  Jordan's was a very bad luck play as he smoked it at the short stop and it carreemed to the 3rd baseman who promptly stepped on third for the 3rd out.  In the field, we had some great catches by Jack, Jordan, and a very nice play by Blake at second who caught the grounder, stood up, turned slowly towards first, moved his hand to get the ball very carefully out of his glove, and quickly throw the ball to first for the very close out.  Andrew called a nice game behind the plate and got the last out in the 3rd inning.

All in all, the kids did fantastic, and I can't wait for the next game.......more good things to come. And before I go, I have to say that the positive comments coming from the fans for each and every at bat and play in the field are unbelievable.  It is really refreshing to see and I know the kids really respond to that positive re-enforcement.  Nice job.
