Some Rules and Tips..
1. The "Run Down" play begins with a pickoff attempt by the pitcher or by a well placed throw by a fielder either ahead of or behind the baserunner
2. There are 4 fielders involved in the run down...the Pitcher is one of them
3. Work inside (because the runner is outside)...to avoid an "obstruction" infraction and to ensure a clear throwing lane to your team mate
4. "Show the ball" with your throwing hand....and remember your throws are "dart throws"
5. After you make your throw continue running to the base ahead of you
6. Long throws go ahead of the runner....short throws go back to the previous base
7. Make the "out" at the previous base...to avoid giving up a base (or a run) if we don't make the out
8. We should be able to make the "out" in 2-4 throws...the fewer the better
