Mite Girls Rivercats Take Home Opener!
Delaware Main was buzzing on Tuesday, May 21st as the Mite Girls took the field for their 2013 Home Opener. The fans were out in full force to cheer on the hometown team.
The Rivercats were patient at the plate and confident in the field throughout the entire game. Consistent pitching by Alyssa N, Patty and Jackie kept the top half of every inning short giving the Cats a chance to show their stuff at the plate. Confidence at the plate and superb base running clearly gave the Rivercats the advantage this night. Defensively, the hometown team was just as strong. When North got the bat on the ball, the Cats responded with great fielding keeping their opponents off the bases. Olivia showed some great hands on first while Brooklynn kept the ball in the infield on 3rd. Fans were treated to a heads up play the end the top half of the fourth by Alyssa and Leah who picked off a runner attempting to steal second.
